Silestone Haiku is a quartz stone with a solid creamy base and totally plain designs with a colour depth never seen before in quartz surfaces. It belongs to the Zen Series of Silestone which is composed by a collection of 5 uniformly coloured stones which bring the possibility of multiple combinations across different styles of design including contemporary, traditional and eclectic interior settings.
The Zen Series revolutionized the quartz surfaces’ sector at its launch and was inspired by the Zen Japanese philosophy based on Buddhist principles of concentration and meditation which provide insights to one’s true nature and a liberated way of life.
Silestone’s reinterpretation comes to interior properties by the adoption of a collection of plain colours ranging from a light, creamy (Haiku) to the other end of the spectrum with Silestone Tao which is a rich black base quartz stone with an incredible consistent sheen across its surface.
Further to the aesthetical and visual advantages of Silestone surfaces there are mechanical properties that enhance the performance of this material such as being a quartz surface that is highly resistant to staining from coffee, wine, lemon juice, olive oil, vinegar, make-up and many other everyday products.
Quartz is one of the strongest minerals known to man. This makes Silestone products extremely durable, with a high level of resistance to external aggressors. The high level of resistance of Silestone quartz worktops to knocks far surpasses that of other products with similar applications (granite, marble, solid surfaces, etc). This resistance and durability provides peace of mind in the kitchen.
To top it all up, Quartz has a hardness of 7 in the Mohs hardness scale (diamond is number 10). Therefore, whereas with the majority of other worktops, such as those made of granite or laminate, which can get scratched, with Silestone no mark is le . Silestone is highly resistant but should not be treated with reckless force; care needs to be taken with knife blades
Silestone Haiku is available in sheets with dimensions of 3040x1380mm and thicknesses of 12mm, 20mm and 30mm, providing limitless possibilities when it comes to designs and specifications.
Haiku’s available finishes are polished (a beautiful sheen), Suede (a very light texture with a soft feel at touch) and Volcano which is a rugged surface for those who wish to display industrial or deeply textured materials in any environment.
