Anyone considering new kitchen countertops – beware of buying countertops from COMPAC The Surfaces Company and Compacstone USA!!!
We installed their Unique Calacatta product in a matte/glacé finish a year ago and just recently noticed spotting and dulling of the finish. We filed a warranty claim. They admitted the product defect and will provide new material for free, but have refused to pay for the fabrication and installation labor (~$6K) to put in the replacement countertops.
So their product fails, they admit fault, but we have to come out of pocket several thousand dollars to make it right? Makes no sense.
We spent 3 months emailing and on phone calls dealing with their Southeast business manager, who we constantly had to follow up with, and ultimately they denied paying for the re-installation labor.
The distributor, Stone Center, and the fabricator/installer, Atlanta Stone Creations, did amazing work and were very responsive, it wasn’t their issue though.
