Product Description

Platino Quartzite is a natural stone from Brazil. It offers a grey background with tins of cream, dark grey and blue. In addition to its exotic backdrop, the material boasts dark grey veining just as seen on marble. In contrast to natural marble, Platino quartzite does not etch when exposed to acidic foods as it lacks the calciferous elements of marble. This makes it ideal for use in kitchens and food preparation areas.

The stone is quarried in the North of Brazil from where it is exported to Europe. Many times the finishing is carried out in Italy, which is well known for their unique approach to detail and technicality in manufacturing. This stone is known as Platino granite in Brazil aand as quartzite in the United Kingdom. The material is available mostly in 20mm thick slabs and in 30mm too. The slabs are large with varying dimensions and know slabs with lengths of over 3.3 meters on occasions. This provides you with the possibility of creating unique designs and large seamless panels. In addition, Platino quartzite’s resistance makes it ideal for demanding applications.

You can use this grey quartzite in floors, walls and furniture cladding. You can also use it in bathrooms, living rooms and as fireplace surrounds.

Platino quartzite is classified as a quartzite in Europe and classified as granite in the USA and China. This results in different names for the material, across quarries and importers who may at times, classify it as a marble or granite instead.
